Steve earned his undergraduate degree from Purdue University and his Doctor of Jurisprudence from Indiana University School of Law in Indianapolis, and has been with MHAI since 1991. He is a recipient of the Webster-Kipfer Award for special achievement in public policy advocacy, a former Vice Chairman for Public Affairs and former member of the Board of Directors of the National Mental Health Association, and former Board Member of the American Society of Mental Health Association Professionals. He has been named to the National Directory of "Who's Who in Executives and Professionals" and by the Indiana Business Journal as a member of "Who's Who in Indiana Health Care." Steve has received gubernatorial appointments to the Indiana Mental Health Commission and the Medicaid Quality Advisory Committee. He currently serves as Chair of the Division of Mental Health and Addiction Advisory Committee.

Brooke Mourey is an undergraduate student at the University of Indianapolis where she is studying psychology and pre-art therapy with a concentration in clinical and counseling psychology. She started with us as intern and has since been hired on our part time staff as a victim intake coordinator. She plans to attend graduate school for mental health counseling and art therapy. This will hopefully lead her to her goal of becoming a licensed mental health counselor and art therapist.

Pam Jacobs is the Senior Accountant for MHAI.  After graduating from Indiana Business College, she has worked in accounting for 37 years.  For the first 18 ½ years she worked for a beverage manufacturing company.  The second 18 ½ years she worked for a not-for-profit dealing with early child care education.  Pam enjoys reading and traveling when she is able.

Stan is a long-time trainer and advocate for the provision of addiction services.  Stan comes to us with experience that includes the Training Officer at the Division of Mental Health and Addiction, the Director of the Fairbanks Research and Training Institute, and most recently the President of Unlimited Synergy.  Stan holds certifications from the American Council on Education, the Addiction Technolgoy Transfer Center, the Connecticut Community for Addiction Recovery, the National Drug Abuse Training Center, The National Institute on Drug Abuse, and the National Institute on Alcoholism and Alchool Abuse.  Stan has a BA from Purdue University in Psychology and has completed significant graduate work in Organizational Development.

Melissa A. Bechtel, CPA, has been the Controller for Mental Health America of Indiana since 2012. After graduating with honors and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting from Ball State University, Melissa worked for a “Big Six” CPA firm and in corporate accounting for eight years. Melissa has found her home in nonprofit accounting, happily serving fellow servants for nearly 20 years.

Jill completed her Master of Arts Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Christian Theological Seminary. Jill has practiced at CTS in their residency program gaining experience in multi-cultural issues and family therapy. Jill specializes in assisting families explore answers to difficult life problems and life transitions. While Jill prioritizes family interactions, she also works individually with children, teens, and adults who have experienced trauma, grief, and other mental health issues. Jill is a CASA providing children’s advocacy through the Indiana juvenile court system and a member of AAMFT.

Clinical Associate and a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, received her Masters Degree in Counseling Psychology and Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology from Ball State University. Julie has worked as a therapist in the community mental health field and school social work. She specializes in play therapy, behavioral modification, and the treatment of child abuse victims and their families.

Debra has provided services to and advocated for individuals with disabilities for over three decades. Debra was a therapist for 10 years, completed law school while working as a therapist, and continues serving individuals with disabilities through legal advocacy and representation. Debra earned her undergraduate degree at Indiana University, Bloomington and completed her Doctor of Jurisprudence at Indiana University School of Law in Indianapolis. At MHAI, Debra is the Legal Director and Managed Health Services Ombudsman and has expanded MHAI’s advocacy program to include the provision of legal services to individuals affected by mental illness, addictions, or other disabilities.

Heather is the Assistant Director and Clinical Supervisor of the Indiana Center for Children and Families. Heather received a Masters of Social Work Degree from Indiana University and Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Indianapolis. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker.  Heather is specially trained in the treatment of adult relationships, parent education and families.  She brings valued experience in the areas of special needs, behaviorally disordered, and abused and neglected children, youth and adolescents.  Heather is also a credentialed mental health specialist and equine specialist, lending unique qualifications in experiential therapy to her clinical and leadership skills.

I earned my BS in Psychology at New York Institute of Technology at Ellis College in 2008 and completed MS in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Walden University in 2016. I have served six years of active duty service in US Navy and have prior work experience helping military veterans at Roudebush VA Medical Center and VA Regional Office. I obtained my LMHCA license in 2017 and I am currently preparing for my licensing exam. I have been married for 17 years and have two daughters ages 18 and 13. My prior work experience includes working with addiction and co-occurring disorders, working with teenagers and children in a school-based setting, and working with minority families. I love 80’s music and watching Marvel movies.

Rebekah comes to Mental Health America of Indiana as a 5-year professional in the Hospitality Industry, coordinating special events for major corporations and political dignitaries at the highest level of state government. Rebekah has experience as a lead trainer and Banquet Captain for the Indiana Roof Ballroom with responsibilities for the coordination and supervision of up to 8 event staff. Rebekah’s excellent academic background prepared her for her current position as Executive Assistant to the President, where she is responsible for MHAI’s special events and executive functions of the Association.

Shar’ron Mason has a passion for helping families, couples and individuals to become their best selves and to live fulfilling lives. She loves working with adolescents and is astounded at their resiliency and creativity. Shar’ron received her Masters of Art Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Christian Theological Seminary in 2015 where she finished cum laude. She received her undergraduate degree from Indiana University Purdue University at Indianapolis (IUPUI) in General Studies. Brandon George is the Director of Indiana Addiction Issues Coalition. As a person in long-term recovery, Brandon has dedicated his time, both personally and professionally, to fighting addiction and promoting recovery. His personal experience, education, and professional accomplishments give him a unique perspective and outlook on both addiction and recovery.

Professionally, he comes from a treatment background and most recently served as the Chief Executive Officer of Pro-Active Resources. Brandon sits on Attorney General Curtis Hill's Drug Task Force, as well as boards for multiple organizations in the community. He has presented throughout the state at multiple events on a wide range of topics.

Brandon has a Bachelor of Science degree in Addiction Counseling from Indiana Wesleyan University, and is an active member in the recovery community. He and his wife Jennifer reside in Fishers, with their two daughters and three dogs.

My long-term successful recovery date is September 21st, 2001. I’ve authored fifteen newspaper articles regarding spirituality and recovery. I am in recovery from the alphabet of addiction including gambling. I currently work as the Director for the Indiana Affiliation of Recovery Residences and also all over the state as a Chaplain, Licensed Addictions Counselor, Minister and recovery group leader trainer. I am divorced and my hobbies include spending quality time with my son, attending and serving our local church, hunting and fishing the woods and waters of the beautiful state of Indiana.

Lisa Hutcheson has been the director of the Indiana Coalition to Reduce Underage Drinking since its inception in 1997. Advocating for stronger local and state policies and laws, the coalition is reducing youth access to alcohol. Lisa holds a Bachelor of Science in psychology and a Master of Education degree in counseling. She is also the Vice President of Policy and Programs for MHAI and part of the MHAI lobbying team. She supervises the Mental Health and Public Assistance Ombudsman programs, the Managed Care Ombudsman program, the Indiana Addiction Issues Coalition, and the Indiana Collegiate Action Network.

Robert Scott is the Administrative Assistant/Receptionist for MHAI since 2013. He has an Associates Degree In Paralegal with the majority of the work spent answering a multi line phone system, running a copier/fax system and addresses other minor issues as needed. Alexandra Sites (Alli) is grateful to be back at ICCF with the opportunity to serve children and their families. Alli returned to the ICCF Administrative Team in 2016, after working as a Family Case Manager for the Department of Child Services. Alli obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from IUPUI and has worked in several roles for ICCF since 2012. Alli has customer service, accounts receivable, retail and restaurant management experience along with a grant development and grant management background from work for the State of Indiana and City of Indianapolis.

Kris has worked consistently in the field of clinical psychology since 1994, when her career began at Wishard’s in-patient units. Kris possesses a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from the Purdue School of Science. She has worked with both adult and adolescent psychiatric patients in acute, in-patient settings, and served as supervisor at a substance-abuse clinic in Indianapolis for seven years. Kris has been with MHAI since 2005, and serves as the statewide Mental Health and Addictions Ombudsman. The Mental Health Ombudsman is a statewide network of mental health professionals mandated by the Indiana General Assembly to advocate for the rights of persons with mental illness, chemical addictions, and their families.
