Steve earned his undergraduate degree from Purdue University and his Doctor of Jurisprudence from Indiana University School of Law in Indianapolis, and has been with MHAI since 1991. He is a recipient of the Webster-Kipfer Award for special achievement in public policy advocacy, a former Vice Chairman for Public Affairs and former member of the Board of Directors of the National Mental Health Association, and former Board Member of the American Society of Mental Health Association Professionals. He has been named to the National Directory of "Who's Who in Executives and Professionals" and by the Indiana Business Journal as a member of "Who's Who in Indiana Health Care." Steve has received gubernatorial appointments to the Indiana Mental Health Commission and the Medicaid Quality Advisory Committee. He currently serves as Chair of the Division of Mental Health and Addiction Advisory Committee.

Emma Jackson graduated from IUPUI with a BA in psychology and a minor in neuroscience (addiction focused). At EmberWood, she works as a case manager and hopes to continue her higher-education in addiction counseling and/or addiction research. Outside her field of study Emma enjoys gardening, reading, existential integration, and the singularity.

Lauren Ward is an Administrative Assistant for Indiana Center for Children and Families and is currently enrolled at Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis. She is pursuing a degree in Health and Rehabilitation Sciences with a focus in Global Health and a minor in Philanthropic studies. She is expected to graduate in the fall of 2017. She has a background of working with a diverse population from various internships at Saving Orphans through Health Care and Outreach (SOHO) and a study abroad program with a focus on Health in the Kingdom of Swaziland and in South Africa. She hopes to further her experience with educating poverty stricken communities.

Stan is a long-time trainer and advocate for the provision of addiction services.  Stan comes to us with experience that includes the Training Officer at the Division of Mental Health and Addiction, the Director of the Fairbanks Research and Training Institute, and most recently the President of Unlimited Synergy.  Stan holds certifications from the American Council on Education, the Addiction Technolgoy Transfer Center, the Connecticut Community for Addiction Recovery, the National Drug Abuse Training Center, The National Institute on Drug Abuse, and the National Institute on Alcoholism and Alchool Abuse.  Stan has a BA from Purdue University in Psychology and has completed significant graduate work in Organizational Development.

Melissa A. Bechtel, CPA, has been the Controller for Mental Health America of Indiana since 2012. After graduating with honors and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting from Ball State University, Melissa worked for a “Big Six” CPA firm and in corporate accounting for eight years. Melissa has found her home in nonprofit accounting, happily serving fellow servants for nearly 20 years.

Michelle has been back with MHAI since February 2015, and serves as the Director for the Ambetter/Illinicare Health Ombudsman Program. As Director of the Ambetter/Illinicare Ombudsman program, her core purposes of the position is to manage and ensure proper handling of Ambetter and Illinicare Health member complaints and resolutions, and to act as the third-party mediator for plan issues related to members’ health benefits and coverage. Michelle holds degrees as a Master of Business Administration (MBA) and as a Master of Human Resource Management. Michelle has over 20+ years of combined experience in Social Services, Business Operations, Health Insurance, and Healthcare Management. Michelle is also an Indiana Licensed Life, Health, and Accident Insurance Producer Agent. In addition, Michelle is a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated an International Public Service Sorority.

Jill completed her Master of Arts Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Christian Theological Seminary. Jill has practiced at CTS in their residency program gaining experience in multi-cultural issues and family therapy. Jill specializes in assisting families explore answers to difficult life problems and life transitions. While Jill prioritizes family interactions, she also works individually with children, teens, and adults who have experienced trauma, grief, and other mental health issues. Jill is a CASA providing children’s advocacy through the Indiana juvenile court system and a member of AAMFT.

Clinical Associate and a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, received her Masters Degree in Counseling Psychology and Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology from Ball State University. Julie has worked as a therapist in the community mental health field and school social work. She specializes in play therapy, behavioral modification, and the treatment of child abuse victims and their families.

Debra has provided services to and advocated for individuals with disabilities for over three decades. Debra was a therapist for 10 years, completed law school while working as a therapist, and continues serving individuals with disabilities through legal advocacy and representation. Debra earned her undergraduate degree at Indiana University, Bloomington and completed her Doctor of Jurisprudence at Indiana University School of Law in Indianapolis. At MHAI, Debra is the Legal Director and Managed Health Services Ombudsman and has expanded MHAI’s advocacy program to include the provision of legal services to individuals affected by mental illness, addictions, or other disabilities.

Heather is the Assistant Director and Clinical Supervisor of the Indiana Center for Children and Families. Heather received a Masters of Social Work Degree from Indiana University and Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Indianapolis. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker.  Heather is specially trained in the treatment of adult relationships, parent education and families.  She brings valued experience in the areas of special needs, behaviorally disordered, and abused and neglected children, youth and adolescents.  Heather is also a credentialed mental health specialist and equine specialist, lending unique qualifications in experiential therapy to her clinical and leadership skills.

Rebekah comes to Mental Health America of Indiana as a 5-year professional in the Hospitality Industry, coordinating special events for major corporations and political dignitaries at the highest level of state government. Rebekah has experience as a lead trainer and Banquet Captain for the Indiana Roof Ballroom with responsibilities for the coordination and supervision of up to 8 event staff. Rebekah’s excellent academic background prepared her for her current position as Executive Assistant to the President, where she is responsible for MHAI’s special events and executive functions of the Association.

Kim earned her Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Kansas State University and her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a minor in Child and Family Development from Missouri State University. She has experience providing school-based mental health services to students who were struggling with a wide range of behavioral and emotional issues. Kim is now employed at ICCF as a Child and Family Therapist. She has training in play therapy, trauma-focused care, and client-centered approaches. Kim hopes to use these skills to help empower others to recognize and accept their own strengths so that they can overcome the obstacles that await them. In her free time, Kim enjoys spending time with her two sweet pups, playing board games with friends, cooking, and watching Netflix.

Darrell studied Business and Public Relations at Purdue University and Addictions Counseling at Indiana Wesleyan University. He has held key executive positions in the for profit sector for over 25 years. Darrell has served on the Board of Directors for the Indiana Addictions Issues Coalition and Mental Health America of Indiana. He is the Director and Founder of the ​Indiana Affiliation of Recovery Residences (INARR), MHAI's newest subsidiary.​

Rebecca holds a Master of Arts degree from Ball State University in the area of Special Education. She also has earned graduate certificates in Early Childhood Education and Autism. She is responsible for IAITMH membership management and activities, including processing of all infant mental health endorsement applications. Rebecca serves on the IMH Task Force and conducts research on topics related to infant and toddler mental health.

Lisa Hutcheson has been the director of the Indiana Coalition to Reduce Underage Drinking since its inception in 1997. Advocating for stronger local and state policies and laws, the coalition is reducing youth access to alcohol. Lisa holds a Bachelor of Science in psychology and a Master of Education degree in counseling. She is also the Vice President of Policy and Programs for MHAI and part of the MHAI lobbying team. She supervises the Mental Health and Public Assistance Ombudsman programs, the Managed Care Ombudsman program, the Indiana Addiction Issues Coalition, and the Indiana Collegiate Action Network.

Cindy has over 11 years of experience in non-profits, counseling, and social work. She earned her Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Psychology at Lake Forest College (Illinois) in 2005. Cindy uses evidence-based practices to provide person-centered counseling to address the cycle of addiction in individuals and families and empower clients to change.

Eileen Call

Eileen received her Master of Arts degree in Art Therapy/Counseling from Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College and has a Bachelor's degree in Fine Art from Indiana State University. Her graduate internship at ICCF provided experience working with trauma victims, along with a broad range of other behavioral issues. Eileen is now employed at ICCF as a Child and Family Therapist, providing therapy in the downtown office and at Susie’s Place Child Advocacy Center for children ages 3-18 that have experienced trauma. Eileen also has experience working with individuals suffering from eating disorders and Alzheimer's. Eileen likes to encourage personal growth as well as mental healing and believes that the healing process is enriched by learning to find meaningful insights through the artistic process.

Alexandra Sites (Alli) is grateful to be back at ICCF with the opportunity to serve children and their families. Alli returned to the ICCF Administrative Team in 2016, after working as a Family Case Manager for the Department of Child Services. Alli obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from IUPUI and has worked in several roles for ICCF since 2012. Alli has customer service, accounts receivable, retail and restaurant management experience along with a grant development and grant management background from work for the State of Indiana and City of Indianapolis.

Kris has worked consistently in the field of clinical psychology since 1994, when her career began at Wishard’s in-patient units. Kris possesses a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from the Purdue School of Science. She has worked with both adult and adolescent psychiatric patients in acute, in-patient settings, and served as supervisor at a substance-abuse clinic in Indianapolis for seven years. Kris has been with MHAI since 2005, and serves as the statewide Mental Health and Addictions Ombudsman. The Mental Health Ombudsman is a statewide network of mental health professionals mandated by the Indiana General Assembly to advocate for the rights of persons with mental illness, chemical addictions, and their families.
