Medication Assisted Treatment Specialist Training and Certification

The Medication Assisted Treatment Specialist (MATS) Training and Certification includes a 35 hour distance learning component and a 2.5 day live training (December 6-8) followed by a written MATS Examination (December 8th). ICAADA defines a Medication Assisted Treatment Specialist as a practitioner as who has demonstrated their knowledge and skills in the 4 MATS performance domains identified in the MATS Job Task Analysis (JTA)). In order to become MATS certified, a practitioner must possess a basic familiarity with the entire range of the 4 Performance Domains of a Medication Assisted Treatment Specialist:

Heroes for Recovery is a Mental Health America of Indiana recognition program that celebrates the dedication and commitment of those that truly promote recovery of individuals in their ongoing treatment of serious and persistent mental illness. This program celebrates these “Heroes” and their families. The program recognizes and celebrates the heroic work of many people who fight for better mental health and better lives on a daily basis in their community. Persons who best exemplify ongoing care and dedication in this field are nominated by their peers within the local mental health community.

Recovery Coach Ethics

The Recovery Coach Ethics training course is an intensive two-day training designed to enable participants to explore the ethical dimensions and issues that a recovery coach may encounter as they promote recovery. The training will focus on the legal and moral issues that may surface while providing recovery coaching services. Training topics will include definition of recovery coach ethics, ICAADA Recovery Coach Code of Ethics, ethical responsibilities of recovery coaching, guidelines for ethical decision-making, and ethics of profession development. Training methods utilized will be lecturette-discussion, small group activities and skill practice.

HIV/AIDS and STD Education & Risk Reduction Training for Addiction Professionals

This six (6) hour training is designed to assist addiction professionals in helping their clients identify  “high risk” activities/life styles that may increase the risk of exposure to HIV and/or the risk of transmitting HIV to others.  The goal of this training is to improve the ability of addiction professionals in a variety of settings to support individuals in making behavior changes that will reduce their risk of acquiring and/or transmitting HIV as well as other health related conditions such as Hepatitis C and other STDs.


Participants completing the training will receive six (6) CEUs from ICAADA .  These CEUs meet  credentialing requirements for addiction professionals.

Addiction Recovery Coach Training

The Addiction Recovery Coach Training Course is a five-day, thirty-hour interactive knowledge and skill development training designed for those desiring to provide recovery coaching in a variety of recovery settings. Participants will learn how to promote recovery for people seeking or in recovery from alcohol and other drug addiction and how to help remove obstacles and barriers to recovery. Participants will be expected to attend all five days of this training.
