WHAT IS A LOSS TEAM?
LOSS stands for Local Outreach to Suicide Survivors. A LOSS Team is an active model of postvention that involves two or more trained volunteers who go to the scene of a suicide to provide immediate support to those left behind.
WHY ARE THEY IMPORTANT?
Having a LOSS Team at the scene of a suicide provides loss survivors with practical support, a connection to resources, and most importantly, an instillation of hope.
WHAT CAN I DO?
Mental Health America of Indianapolis is working diligently in hopes of creating a LOSS Team for Marion County. Here are just a few ways you and your community may get involved.
VOLUNTEER
Individuals, ages 18+ may apply to volunteer with the Indy LOSS Team. From being on-site, to assisting with preparation of care packages, we would love to have you on board! Learn more about this process by watching our callout video on the MHA Indy website.
